WICHITA, Kan. & VAN NUYS, Cal. — Mid-Continent Instruments will celebrate the 15-year anniversary of their facility in Van Nuys, California at the Aircraft Electronic Association’s regional meeting in Portland, Oregon this September.

“We want to celebrate this anniversary at the AEA meeting, because that is where we announced the opening of this shop 15 years ago,” said Todd Winter, president.  “The success of this shop is in a large part due to the support of our AEA friends.”

Mid-Continent West was started in 1990 to provide faster response to all west coast customers.  “We believe a local facility was the best way to meet the needs of our customers,” said Winter.  “Southern California is such a strong market and we do so much business there that it was inevitable that we open this location.  Matt Fowle (Mid-Continent Instruments West Manager) opened that shop with one other person and we haven’t stopped growing since.”

Under Matt’s supervision, Mid-Continent Instruments West has grown to 25 people, which created the need to move into a larger facility in 2001.  The current facility offers three times the space and a prominent location on the east side of the Van Nuys airport.

“Our outstanding people have fueled Mid-Continent’s growth and success.  That is why Mid-Continent West has earned a reputation as one of the top instrument shops in the country,” said Winter.

Whether overhauling gyros, repairing autopilots or pitot static instruments, the Van Nuys team keeps busy.  Fully certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA CRS OL2D061L) and the JAA (JAA.4674), Mid-Continent West offers exchange and overhaul services worldwide, with special emphasis on the western United States and the Pacific Rim.

“Our abilities and inventory have increased significantly since we started, but our main focus is outstanding customer service,” said Fowle.  “We are constantly improving and growing our company to meet the needs of a very professional customer base.  We can accomplish this because of the commitment and dedication of each and every member of our staff.”
