November 11 2006 Mid-Continent Instruments Presents the Ultimate Turn Coordinator WICHITA, Kan. — Mid-Continent Instruments has developed the ultimate version of the incredibly popular modernized turn coordinator. No, it’s not “glass” but it does take the proven gyro technology to the limit by offering more than double the service life of the older designs that were available prior to 2005. The 1394T100-10RB is a direct replacement for over 6,000 Cessna autopilots in field, while the 1394T100-7B replaces the popular – 7Z and most standard 3-pin turn coordinators. The new B-model equivalents are: ˇ Multi-voltage capable (11-32VDC range) ˇ Rated at 4,800 hours MTBF, one of the highest in the industry ˇ Utilizing a brushless rotor design, engineered for long service life ˇ Cessna-approved designs ˇ Featuring a proven AC rotor powered by a solid-state inverter, which creates less heat behind the instrument panel. Certified to FAA TSO C3b and DO-160C environmental standards, these units are approved to 35,000 feet and feature an improved warning flag that indicates correct rotor speed and power input. They feature an auxiliary digital rotor speed output for field diagnostics and an RFI filter to eliminate radio interference. Both turn coordinators are covered by the Mid-Continent one-year limited warranty. Mid-Continent’s EGC turn coordinators and turn and slip indicators have been installed in more aircraft than any other type during the 45 years they have been in production. An achievement celebrated in March with the manufacture of their 300,000th turn coordinator. They provide the pilot with turn rate and slip/skid information, and critical flight data in the event of vacuum system interruption or attitude gyro failure. These flight instruments are used by thousands of pilots daily and are supplied as standard equipment for many Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) including Cessna, Raytheon, Piper, Mooney, Maule Air, Robinson Helicopter, Pilatus Aircraft of Switzerland, and Diamond Aircraft, among others. Mid-Continent Instruments manufactures aircraft instruments for the general aviation industry. Services at the Wichita, Kansas facility also include developing and manufacturing new avionics products. Mid-Continent Instruments West in Van Nuys, California provides new instrument sales and is the top-rated instrument overhaul shop on the west coast. Together the locations employ more than 150 people and offer the largest general aviation instrument overhaul/exchange program in the world. Specialties include gyro, altimeter, HSI and autopilot system overhauls. Mid-Continent instruments are found in all new Cessna airplanes and in Raytheon’s Beech line of Bonanzas, Barons, King Airs and 1900 Airliners. Instruments are sold to other manufacturers such as GARMIN International, Honeywell, Cirrus, Lancair, Piper Aircraft Inc., Diamond and Robinson Helicopter Co.
