Accessory Class Ratings Increase Repair Capabilities at Mid-ContinentMid-Continent Instrument Company is building on their reputation as one of the industry’s best sources for overhaul/exchange instruments by adding accessory class ratings to their list of FAA certifications.Mid-Continent has two of the most comprehensive repair facilities in the country located in Wichita, Kansas and Van Nuys, California. Both sites are authorized by the FAA to operate an approved repair station with the following ratings: LOCATION Wichita, KS Van Nuys, CA FAA REPAIR STATION # OL2R061L OL2D061L INSTRUMENT CLASSES 1, 2, 3, 4 1, 2, 3, 4 RADIO CLASSES 1, 2, 3 Limited ACCESSORY CLASS RATINGS Class 3 Limited The advantage of these ratings allows Mid-Continent to work on any instruments within the parameters of their class without having to wait for FAA approval. This benefit to the customers is obvious – not waiting for additional FAA approval means less down time for their aircraft. The new Accessory Class 3 rating authorizes the Wichita location to work on the various electronic accessories found in today’s aircraft. “Adding the Accessory Class 3 rating to the Wichita location works well with our existing instrument and radio classes,” said Charles Shumate, Quality Assurance Manager. “It rounds out our capabilities to work on electronic components found in most aircraft. We are excited to provide our customers this new service.” Services at the Wichita, Kansas and Van Nuys facilities also include new instrument sales for various manufacturers. Together the locations employ more than 160 people and offer the largest general aviation instrument overhaul/exchange program in the world.
